LightMesh 1.0: Opportunities in photonics grad school 101
December 6 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm UTC
IEEE Photonics Society CUET Student Branch Chapter, in collaboration with IEEE CUET Student Branch, IEEE WIE CUET Student Branch Affinity Group, and IEEE Photonics Society Student Branch Chapter at INRS, will host the upcoming session of LightMesh 1.0 featuring distinguished speaker Md. Mahadi Masnad. Mr. Masnad is currently pursuing his PhD in Integrated Nonlinear Photonics at INRS–EMT, Canada, where he is working on advanced silicon photonics, nanophotonics, and optical device engineering. His research areas include inverse-designed photonic components, integrated mode converters, mode-division multiplexers, photonic digital-to-analog converters (PDACs), and fabrication-tolerant photonic systems. He also serves as the Vice Chair of the Institute of Physics Singapore Student Chapter. In this session, he will discuss graduate school opportunities in Canada along with cutting-edge research avenues in photonics, highlighting perspectives on computational photonics, machine-learning-assisted device optimization, photonic interconnects, and next-generation integrated photonic circuits that are shaping the future of high-speed optical communication. This event aims to guide students and enthusiasts in exploring career and research opportunities in photonics and understanding the global advancements driving emerging photonic technologies.
